Historiographical Validation at the Naples Conservatory
Girolamo De Simone includes Romina Daniele and the founding of ElectroAcoustics Magazine among the leading figures of the contemporary sound avant-garde in his Bicentenary paper.
ANNOUNCEMENTSPUBLICATIONS
Tracing the historical and theoretical trajectory of the «avanguardia delle radici» («avant-garde of the roots», or rhizomatic avant-garde)—understood as pure, visceral, and independent sound research, freed from academic mannerism—De Simone identifies a generational and frontier nexus. Within this historiographical framework, the author highlights Romina Daniele—defined as an «artist and theorist» active between Italy and the United States—as a key figure in contemporary aesthetics, emphasizing the relevance of the founding of the portal and journal ElectroAcoustics Magazineas a driving force for theoretical-acoustic proposals on a transatlantic scale.
De Simone's analysis connects Romina Daniele's research to that of composer Massimiliano Fuschetto (border music and cinematic soundtracks) and Valerio Daniele with the Desuonatori collective (listening practice and territorial fruition),ideally positioning them as the successors to the great season of experimentation inaugurated in the 1970s by figures such as Luciano Cilio and the Neapolitan school.
